Organic and medicinal chemistry are unavoidably intertwined and their synergistic collaboration has massively accelerated the discovery and development of drugs and other important bioactive molecules, which our society greatly benefits from.

At Nature Communications, we are delighted to announce the launch of a themed collection that showcases some of the latest content in the multidisciplinary field of Synthetic and Medicinal Chemistry published in our journal.

The different sections highlight compelling additions to the medicinal chemistry toolbox, the total synthesis of biologically relevant compounds and the development of more efficient chemo- and bio- catalytic methods to access libraries of small molecules of medicinal interest. This collection will be regularly updated and we hope that you will enjoy the published content.
