I always support Open Access (OA) as a contributor in several OA journals. Many OA journals nowadays have vigorous peer-reviewing processes to maintain a high journal quality standard. The basic idea of OA is that everyone can freely download the OA scholarly literature online. This would maximize the visibility of the latest research results to people from every hierarchy and with different professional training. This may also achieve potentially new collaborations for spanking innovations from cross research disciplines.

My university is one of the first universities in Hong Kong which supports OA starting in 2016 and committed to making the results of its research and scholarship as widely available as possible (https://library.hkbu.edu.hk/researchvisibility/oa-policy.html). Researchers of our university deposit regularly their scholarly materials in the Institutional Repository to preserve its work and make it openly accessible to anyone who seeks it.
